It sounds nuts, right? I mean, betting on sports as an investment? There’s no way! Sounds like taking hard earned money and throwing it right down the toilet!

I can just hear the reactions and understandably because it does sound a bit off on the face of it. But, there’s another side to consider. In this article I will offer some insight as it relates to sports investing, or sports trading as it’s known, so that you can you can make a well formed decision as to whether it’s right for you.

Take a look at the recent meltdown in the stock and futures markets lately. We have incredible instability on a daily basis the likes of which have not been seen before in quite some time. You know something’s not right when 200 to 500 point daily swings are the norm. The volatility recently is off the chart and probably not a good place to be unless you really know what you’re doing.

So, with that said, let’s look at the sports market. And before I get too far into this, I’ll say that the only way I’d recommend someone pursue something like this is with a sports investment firm specializing in this sort of thing. Especially if you’ve never bet on a sporting event before. Firms like this make the picks for you so there’s no guesswork.

OK, so the sports market has huge liquidity without the extreme volatility of stock and futures markets, relatively speaking. The sports investment firm can mitigate the risk because of the information network they’ve established with traditional handicappers, keeping tabs on casino moves, syndicate plays, steam plays, as well as the application of computer algorithmic models. Most of the best firms are seriously plugged in to the sports betting world and they have information that the average person will never have. I hate to use the term “inside information” because it sound so cliche, but they have it and it’s this kind of information that many times makes all the difference.

Let me draw a comparison between a stock investment firm and what these guys do. A stock investment firm looks at thousands of companies to determine value against current price. A sports investment firm does the same but typically with only Division 1A college teams and pro teams. Some even specialize further into individual sports as this reduces exposure in keeping up with too many teams. So, their collection of teams is their “sports exchange” and they know these teams better than the teams know themselves. They know what will make a team decrease in value (lose) and can determine when they will rise in value (win).

Interestingly enough, these firms are seeing many more stock day traders and forex traders join their service than ever before. Many have jumped in due to radical nature of the equities markets as mentioned above. The difference for them in day trading sports is they don’t have to make any decision to sell. They simply have to open the trade and wait for the outcome of the game. In the financial markets knowing when to sell is an art in and of itself. Sell too soon and you rob yourself of profit. Sell too late and give all your profit back. In the sports markets all of this stress is alleviated.

When dealing with some of these firms, be prepared for them to interview you as much you interview them. Most are not interested in dealing with “action junkies”, or those who simply bet sports for betting’s sake. These firms are in it long term and expect you to be as well. They want to see you succeed and because most have a monthly, re-occurring billing model, it’s in their best interest to see you do well. For the most part they wish to work with people who enjoy making reasonable profits and are not so concerned in trying to brake Vegas.

I hope this article has opened your eyes a bit and given you some things to think about. In the end, all investing is like betting in a way. Sports investing is a bit unconventional, but can serve as a viable hedge against the stock and futures markets. For some it actually becomes an alternative. For my money it’s best done with a sports investment specialist without question! The link to my website below reviews a few of these services and I encourage you to check them out! Winning money at blackjack isn’t all about basic strategy and counting cards. Consistently winning big money depends a lot on the betting system you use. Anyone who has played blackjack at a real casino knows that one moment you can be on top of the world in chips but the next you can be digging in your wallet for more funds.

The chip stacks in a normal game of blackjack typically fluctuate erratically and therefor finding the best betting system when gambling is crucial. This article discusses three popular gambling betting systems used throughout history (and current) and which ones are the best to use when playing blackjack. The three betting systems are the Labouchere, Paroli and Parlay systems.

1.) Labouchere Betting System

Description: The Labouchere system is a negative progression betting system. It is also referred to as “Cancellation”, “Crossout”, “Labby” and “Split Martingale”. Using the Labouchere betting system, you will always make a profit after finishing the entire betting cycle. To complete the system you must win all bets.

How It Works: You must first write down a series of numbers, such as “1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8″, however the series could be any numbers and any length. It could be “1 1 1 4 3 7″ or 3 1 5 6 1 1 8 4 2 1″. The length and values of the numbers depend on the game you are playing and the rules.

Each number in the series represents a value in units or chips. You start by adding up the first and last number in the series. The sum is the unit of chips you will bet. If you win, you cross out the first and last number, and add the next first and last number in the series (the ones not crossed out) and use this sum for your second bet. If you lose at any time before completing the system, you start from the beginning. If you win all bets and complete the system, then you start again from the beginning (the original sum from the first and last number).

You must carefully develop this system before playing and strictly adhere to following it once playing to win money. Be sure to account for your bankroll.

2.) Paroli Betting System

Description: The Paroli system is a positive progression betting system. This system does not require a large bankroll and is considered more stable than other betting systems when playing blackjack.

How It Works: You start your bet with one unit. If you win the first bet, then your second bet is the first bet plus your winnings. If you win the second bet, then your third bet is the second bet plus the winnings from that. At any time that you lose, you start the next bet at one unit.

For example, if you start with $100.00 and win $100.00, then your second bet would be $200.00. If you win the second bet, then your third bet would be $400.00… etc. You include all winnings in your next bet, including extra winnings from doubling down, splitting or blackjack.

An important part of this system is having a stop point, which you must determine before you start gambling. The stopping point may be a unit or dollar amount. After you lose a bet or reach your stopping point, you must bet one unit on the next bet.

3.) Parlay Betting System

Description: The Parlay system is another positive progression betting system and can successfully be used in the game of blackjack. It’s derived from the system that banks use to compound interest and is also referred to as the “Let It Ride” betting system.

This betting system involves less risk than similar systems and does not require a large bankroll to use.

How It Works: This system is similar to the Paroli betting system. The only difference with this system is that you literally “let it ride” with your bets. With each successive bet, you place your winnings on top of the original bet. There is no stopping point. Since you are betting in a pyramid fashion, you can turn a small bet into exponentially large winnings. Unfortunately with this system, when you lose you lose everything.

The Labouchere, Paroli and Parlay systems are the best betting systems for playing blackjack. There are other betting systems out there but they are better used with different gambling games such as craps and roulette. Which system you choose will depend on your own personal style and bankroll. These betting systems are great for all blackjack games including those at real and online casinos.

Pssst…! Wanna know a secret?

How about the secrets of controlled betting?

If you are playing at a craps table and the new shooter is a dice controller, you might want to bet a little differently than you normally would. Many dice controllers hold the dice for ten or twenty rolls compared to the normal 5 to 9 rolls for an average shooter.

Wanna know the secrets that craps pros use to control their betting so they increase their profits with rhythm rollers?

Let’s find out!

Over time, an expert shooter develops what is referred to as a signature roll. The easiest way to discover this is to notice what the shooter is betting on. He will probably make a pass line bet and then also buy some numbers, like maybe the four and ten. He has to make a pass line bet to shoot, but the four and ten buy bet is somewhat unusual, so he might have a signature. It would be best if you followed his lead and bet in the same manner he does.

Obviously though, he will throw a seven eventually and you can’t leave all of your money up forever, so you need to have a good regression system. The easiest one to use is to start out at your highest bet, and buy the same two numbers the shooter does. Then, just regress the numbers down by one unit after each win until you are at the minimum.

In addition, you can try “pushing the house” to get even a better deal. For example, if you buy the 4 and 10 for $50 you would have to pay $2.50 vig (5% of $50) on each number. Sometimes this is rounded up to $3. Just ask if you can pay $2 before you bet. If the friendly dealer says yes (and he should), then ask if you can buy the four and ten for $58 each and still only pay the $2 (5% of $58 is $2.90) vig.

Now let’s say the four hits and you win $116. Leave the $58 on the ten and regress the four down to $38, and ask if you can buy it for $38 and only pay $1 vig (5% of $38 is $1.90). If the four hits again, you win $76. Leave it at $38 – you can’t pay less than $1 vig on a buy bet and if they keep on letting you buy the four (and ten) for $38 and only pay $1, then keep on doing it.

Soon, if the ten starts hitting you will have both the four and ten regressed down to $38. Leave both bets up unless the shooter takes his bets down, or something unusual happens to ruin the shooter’s concentration. By regressing your buy bets you will always have something on the table during a hot roll, and after the first win, everything else is pure profit

If you are an expert shooter yourself, bring your spouse or friend along, and the casino will let him or her take care of your bets while you are concentrating on shooting.

Life’s a gamble. But for some of us, the ordinary risks we face each day don’t offer enough excitement, so we love to indulge in some extra gambling for fun (and, hopefully, for profit.) Buying a weekly lottery ticket is enough satisfy many of us, but millions of others prefer neon and noise with their gambling. For them, there are casinos.

While Las Vegas and Monte Carlo are the two cities best known for their casinos, casinos have begun to crop up all over the United States. Even so, the cost of getting to a casino, and paying for lodging and meals during your stay, may be more than you’re willing to pay. But what if you could have a casino vacation which included the cost of your transportation, your lodgings, and your meals-and by meals, we mean five-star cuisine served at any time of the day or night?

If that sounds like just the ticket, you should book your next vacation on a cruise ship. While most people don’t take cruises solely for the opportunity to gamble, those who do love thee cruise ship casinos. Delightfully laid-back compared to their noisy, crowded Las Vegas counterparts, their more relaxed atmosphere is due in large part to the well-trained and friendly dealers who are more than willing to educate passengers on the nuances of table games.

Most cruise ship casino dealers are, in fact, British or European, and simply more “civilized” than land-based dealers who are under pressure to get as much money out of each player as possible.

One thing you won’t get in a cruise ship casino, however, is free alcohol. The casino on your ship doesn’t need to entice you to play with drinks, because it’s the only casino available. So while you’re certainly welcome to imbibe as you play, whatever you drink will be charged to your onboard account.

Your cruise ship will post the hours when the casino is open, and it won’t be open when you’re in port. Cruise ship casinos can operate only in international waters, but during your at sea days, you’ll probably be able to gamble between 11:00 AM and 2:00 or 3:00 AM.

Many cruise ships have gaming lessons for their gambling wannabes. The casino staff will, for a small fee, teach you some professional gaming tips before you actually try your luck at the tables. You’ll be able to play all the classic table games like Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, and Poker. Your cruise ship casino will have sot machines in abundance, video poker, and for the less sophisticated gambler, lots and lots of Bingo. The Bingo tournaments are usually held during the afternoon.

One of the silliest, yet most popular, forms of cruise ship gambling is shipboard horse racing. The cruise ships don’t have Off-track Betting, so they offer in its place a game in which players move horses mounted on poles around a track. The distance of each move is determined by a roll of the dice. The final day of your cruise will be the culmination of the shipboard horse racing, when passengers are allowed to buy their horses for a set fee, usually $100, and race for a pot of the entire sales proceeds. Horse owning passengers will go all out, naming their steeds and even costuming them. Some cruise ships take 10% of the final pot and award it to the owner of the most cleverly dressed horse.

One more aspect of cruise gambling is that many ports-of-call for popular cruise lines offer onshore gambling in some of the world’s most breathtaking locales. Nassau and Paradise Island in the Bahamas are just two examples of cruise ship gambling locales where your real payoff will be in enjoying the scenery!
